Who’s Steering: Faith or Fear?

June 24th, 2025

Hey Friend,

We’ve all seen the phrase: "Faith over Fear". It’s on hats, hoodies, journals, Instagram bios… guilty of the latter! 🤭 And let’s be honest... after a while, it starts to feel like background noise. Cliché. Easy to ignore.

But lately, I’ve been thinking about what it actually means.
Because life? Life is full of fear-filled moments. Moments where everything in you wants to run, hide, say no, or just freeze:

  • Maybe it’s asking for that raise.
  • Standing your ground when it’d be easier to fold.
  • Facing financial uncertainty.
  • Speaking your mind
  • Trying something completely new without a guarantee it’ll work
  • And so on and so forth

I’ve found myself there, more than I'd like. Still go there, if we're being real. So, come take a minute, and muse with me on how we can tell fear to take the backseat!

Faith or Fear, You decide.

When I think about the choice of faith and fear, it seems kind of obvious and easy to see what the ideal choice is, right? I mean from experiences in life, I want no part in the other thing.

I used to think the people who walked through life with ease were just wired different – cooler under pressure, less emotional, maybe even "luckier". But once I started building a business, a long with other factors, and met those same people who related to me, I realized:

They didn’t lack fear. They just had *faith*. Not the kind you slap on a T-shirt. The kind that holds steady when life does the opposite. The kind that anchors you to who you are, not what’s happening, or not happening, around you. The kind that whispers, “Keep going,” even when you can’t see the outcome.

Meeting fear feels like an unbeatable battle sometimes. It's crippling, paralyzing to not only your body, but your spirit. However, I imagine facing fear is kind of like walking up to a giant, and saying "I'm gonna defeat you with this sling and rock." Even when everyone before hand stayed away in in fear.

But what if we've never been the step up to a giant type? Well, what if you are? In fact, I'd challenge you to tell you that you are.

Fear... is a choice. Just as much as faith is. Those people who I thought were wired different... they were! They were wired to when fear steps up with it's weight to pick up their slink and rock. Whether that wiring was shown to them from their upbringing, life expereinces, or just making a choice to not being a captive of fear anymore... and to learn new ways, skills, to tap into faith. Fine tuning it to you.

Eventually we have to decide to stop waiting for fear to leave, and choose faith anyway.

Faith doesn't erase fear...

...but it does change the role fear plays.

Fear will always try to drive. That’s its thing. Ain’t that funny? Fear is never scared to take control of our life – but it leaves us too fearful to fully live it. So messed up you gotta laugh. Lol.

But if I am being honest? That’s where I think the magic starts to happen. When we start operating on faith... faith comes in and tells fear to take a back seat. *Alexa. Play "Jesus Take the Wheel"* That's a funny, but real talk.

One of the stories about Yeshua I love the most is when he was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. The enemy came to tempt him, yet he remained faithful to who his Heavenly Father is. The part of the scripture that sticks out to me the most is the end when it basically says that enemy went away... to plot his next move to get Jesus to fall off his path.

I’ve learned that in the scariest moments – the ones that shake us and our soul, the ones where we’re asking, “Why me?” – those are often the moments that shape us most and what follows.

We may not realize it in real time. It may feel like everything’s falling apart, and only the worse can happen. But somewhere in that chaos, there’s always a decision to be made:

“Will I move forward in faith—or in fear?”

That moment is quiet, quick, but critical. If we don’t mindfully pause to ask ourselves that question… we move on autopilot. And guess what, if we’ve been moving in fear for too long… fear is right there again to take the wheel. That’s when we risk stepping into the scenarios we feared in the first place.

For me, faith is rooted in our Divine Creator, and Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

But even if that’s not your grounding place, I hope it’s okay I share this:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

— 2 Timothy 1:7

I would love to say I’ve gone back to this verse all my life, but I’d be lying.
I am still building my own faith, and battling everyday for faith to drive my vehicle. But we try, and we do. Writing this blog and you reading that is just a sample of that proof.

Final Thoughts

In this life – especially the creative, build-your-own-path life – it would be foolish to pretend that fear doesn’t exist; becuase in fact, it does. It’s about learning how to live forward anyway.

So whatever it is you're chasing – healing, breakthrough, your next chapter – don’t rush it. Don’t wait for fear to be completely gone, just do it becasue you know no matter, it will work in your favor, and you believe that... you have faith in that.

This is a brick by brick, day by day, second by second, faith in motion, kind of thing.

Fear might still be hanging around. But faith? Faith just moved in down the street—and it’s here to help you build the life you actually want.

Peace,
